Founded in 2001 by renowned cellist Kai Chen, a former principal cellist of the China National Opera Theatre and a National First-Class Performer, Kai's Cello Studio has made significant contribution to music education in the Puget Sound region for 25 years. The studio has nurtured more than 1,000 young musicians, many of whom have continued their studies at prestigious universities and music conservatories or pursued careers as professional cellists. Each year, its students earn awards in music competitions while actively participating in benefit performances and community concerts. 

Kai Chen is a name synonymous with mastery of thecello, and is one that has left an enduring mark on theworld's music stage. With a career spanning multipledecades and captivating audiences around the world, KaiChen's journey as a professional cellist has been definedby dedication, artistry, and collaboration.

Born into a musical family, Kai Chen graduated from theCentral Conservatory of Music with top honors in 1987.He then joined the esteemed China National OperaTheatre as principal cellist of its symphony orchestra. Hisexceptional skills were quickly recognized, and in 1991 he was promoted to the title of National First-Class Performer. Kai Chen's passion for the cello extends beyond performing. After relocating to Seattle, he founded Kai's Cello Studio in 2001.

Under his guidance, students consistently win top prizes in both national and international competitions. Many of his students have gone on to enjoy successful careers as professional

cellists.
